As an Autodesk Gold Partner, Contelos tailors Autodesk solutions for construction businesses.

It adapts tools such as AutoCAD, Revit and BIM 360 to the realities of construction planning, mechanical design, as well as infrastructure modelling and multi-trade collaboration. When technology is aligned with actual workflows, coordination improves, bottlenecks disappear and projects advance with fewer delays. Without that alignment, software can quickly become underused or poorly integrated, leading to miscommunication, duplicated effort and unnecessary costs.

For more than 30 years, Contelos has been at the forefront of construction technology, transforming the way digital tools deliver real-world results. This expertise is built into its full-service delivery model, which begins with process analysis and solution configuration, followed by hands-on training and long-term support. Clients are guided through every stage of their Autodesk journey, which includes steadily building the internal capability to operate independently.

“We don’t just install software and walk away. Our role is to ensure Autodesk becomes a natural part of how a business works every day,” says Thomas Schimkewitsch, CEO.

Driving each project’s success is a team comprised of individuals with deep expertise in construction, mechanical engineering and IT. They bring practical, cross-industry insight to every engagement. Their firsthand knowledge empowers them to anticipate challenges, speak the client’s language and design optimal solutions for digital planning and on-site execution.

From Planning to Execution, Value at Every Step

Digital transformation is a proven driver of competitive advantage across design and make industries. Autodesk’s 2025 State of Design and Make report shows that most leaders have already achieved returns exceeding 50 percent, with gains in innovation, productivity, customer satisfaction and the ability to make smarter, faster decisions based on real-time data. These findings reinforce the truth that when technology is aligned with the realities of day-to-day operations, it becomes a catalyst for measurable performance and long-term growth.

Contelos helps companies realise this potential by building digital workflows that are structured, transparent and dependable. It works with clients to resolve challenges that limit efficiency, whether in creating a shared data environment, introducing unified BIM standards, improving trade-to-trade coordination or managing the rapid expansion of cloud-based project information.

The process begins with detailed discussions about existing workflows to identify what functions well and where improvements are needed. Rather than pushing for a full-scale transformation, Contelos makes targeted adjustments that fit seamlessly into the client’s current way of working, ensuring adoption is easy and results are sustainable.

Often, this involves deploying Autodesk Construction Cloud to centralise project data, give stakeholders real-time access and align models early in the planning stage. When paired with automation for repetitive tasks such as bill of materials generation, approval routing or issue tracking, the result is higher precision and fewer errors. This approach is particularly effective in modular and prefabricated projects, where upfront accuracy determines downstream efficiency.
A powerful example is Contelos’ collaboration with STILxArchitektur on a multi-family housing project in Hanover, Germany. The developer wanted to use reinforcement-free, precast concrete walls, an unconventional method that demanded highly detailed digital planning. Contelos customised Autodesk Revit and the AEC Collection to create precise 2D and 3D models of wall structures, openings, sockets and connection interfaces. The team then delivered targeted training that enabled the client to apply the tools effectively throughout the project. This combination of technical configuration and skill-building streamlined workflows, enhanced thermal and acoustic performance, and improved cost predictability from the outset.

Contelos further supports its clients by working with a network of specialised partner companies. This approach extends its reach into complex, multi-disciplinary projects, from modular construction and infrastructure to mechanical plant design and integrated factory modelling.

  • When processes, data and people are connected from day one, coordination stops being a challenge and starts becoming a competitive advantage

With the lines between many disciplines increasingly blurred, for example, across mechanical engineering, architectural planning, and industrial facility design, its interdisciplinary model ensures clients receive cohesive, end-to-end support from a single, accountable source. These partnerships complement Contelos’ deep Autodesk expertise with sector-specific knowledge, ensuring technology is implemented in ways that make sense for each industry’s operational realities.

Proven Digital Innovation for Sustainability Goals

The growing awareness of the business value of sustainability is reshaping how construction leaders set their priorities. Many now see it as more than a compliance requirement. It’s a strategic opportunity to enhance performance. The 2025 State of Design and Make report shows that the number of executives who understand the business case for sustainability tripled between 2022 and 2023, and the majority of survey respondents view it as essential to business growth over the next three years. Seventy-two percent believe that sustainability measures can generate more than five percent of their annual revenue.

Contelos equips organisations to act on this growing focus by turning sustainability goals into measurable progress. Whether the objective is to reduce environmental impact, improve lifecycle efficiency or achieve formal certification, it ensures that every sustainability measure is practical and results-driven.

The report also highlights AI as the leading force driving sustainability. Thirty-nine percent of industry leaders now use it to advance their sustainability goals, more than any other measure. Adoption has risen steadily from 26 percent in 2023 to 34 and 39 percent in 2024 and 2025.

Contelos harnesses this momentum through a trial-first approach that validates emerging technologies in real project environments before they are deployed at scale. This includes generative design to reduce material use, AI-assisted planning to optimise resource efficiency and real-time simulation to fine-tune system performance. Proving a technology’s value before adoption reduces risk while increasing the likelihood of measurable returns.

This method was implemented with a major German water supplier. Contelos developed a digital twin of critical assets, standardised data workflows, and improved collaboration between engineering teams and external partners. The result was a step-change in asset lifecycle transparency, manual documentation and maintenance planning that aligned with both operational and environmental goals.

A similar approach supported BERLING Ingenieurgesellschaft in developing a hybrid wood and concrete building in Berlin designed for DGNB sustainability certification. Starting with 2D architectural plans, Contelos guided the creation of detailed 3D models to simulate heating and cooling loads, optimising all building systems. This early modelling accelerated design validation, improved cross-disciplinary coordination and streamlined the technical planning process, reducing potential delays and rework.

“When processes, data and people are connected from day one, coordination stops being a challenge and starts becoming a competitive advantage,” says Schimkewitsch.

Training that Builds Skilled, Self-Reliant Teams

Technology delivers lasting value only when teams can confidently apply it. As an Autodesk Training Center, Contelos designs its learning programs around the actual demands of each client’s projects. Training goes beyond basic software operation, offering role-specific, hands-on instruction for CAD drafters, site engineers, project managers and other stakeholders.

“We want every participant to leave knowing they can solve tomorrow’s problems themselves instead of waiting for someone else to do it for them,” says Schimkewitsch.

Participants often arrive with specific challenges such as the need to avoid conflicts, reduce execution delays, or minimise rework. Contelos addresses these directly, beginning with foundational principles and progressing to advanced topics like BIM coordination, cloud collaboration, simulation tools and integrated project workflows.

The outcome is a transformation that’s as practical as it is technical, turning Autodesk from a static toolkit into a dynamic driver of efficiency, precision and collaboration.
