The construction industry is morphing and picking up speed, although the industry had resisted new technologies initially, now some are making significant strides in rounds.
FREMONT, CA: Enduring the growth and evolution of the construction industry compels the companies to stay updated if they wish to remain in the competitive market. Although the industry is a late adopter of technology and hesitant to change, various technological innovations have the potential to penetrate the industry and alter the way it works. Virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR), modular construction, and robots can play a crucial role in the industry this year.

3D printing is paving its way in the construction industry; the benefits of the technology have already been explored and exploited by numerous construction companies globally. It can either prefabricate offsite or directly on-site has labor and material cost benefits compared to the traditional building methods. 3D printing also cuts down on waste, and being automated is not restricted by construction worker shift patterns.
AR, VR, and MR
These technologies have already made a massive impact on many industries on a global scale, and the construction sector is no different. The buildings are becoming more complex, and these technologies help the architects and construction teams to enhance designs and detect design errors. Until now, the architects and design team improves building design via interactive design and gesture interfacing. This categorizes from errors in HVAC system design or discovering the missing elements which have been neglected during the design phase.
Robotics
In 2020 robotics is set to impact the construction industry. It is, in a way, connected to the impact of 3D printing; robotics is also experiencing impressive infiltration into the industry.
From robotic bricklayers to laying roads, robots are finding their place among the workforce on construction sites. Traditionally the construction sector primarily relied on manual labor. The incorporation of robots in the workforce, construction companies, are noticing enhanced construction times and improved quality of builds. Robots are also used in demolishing buildings.
Throughout 2019, several new trends in the construction space have set its foot, and few of these trends will be largely influencing construction in 2020 as well.
