Cutting-edge Solutions to Streamline Procurement

PlanetBids, a leading e-procurement platform, revolutionizes the procurement bidding process for government agencies seeking bids for their projects while providing a centralized vendor portal for construction contractors. Creating synergies by combining two lines of business, it caters to both procurement teams and vendors, making the process streamlined and convenient.

While the purchase of commodities and services is often characterized as a chaotic process by procurement professionals, the PlanetBids platform makes a difference by consolidating and organizing all bid-related information in one place, transforming a complex workflow into an efficient and trackable process.

“One of greatest things is when we participate in large government events, and our clients come to our booth and hug someone from our team and say, ‘Thank you, you’ve helped me so much with my job,’” says David DiGiacomo, CEO of PlanetBids. “For us, it is really the best proof we are on the right track.”

From a procurement perspective, the solution helps save time and costs and enhances transparency. Government agencies, municipalities, transportation and airport agencies and other organizations can quickly create requests for proposals (RFPs), issue bids, manage vendors, and interact with contractors. Additional functionalities like vendor pre-qualification, emergency operations, and contract management enable procurement leaders to have valuable information at their fingertips.

By digitizing the bidding process, PlanetBids also promotes sustainability, eliminating the need to rely on paper documentation and make multiple copies of extensive contracts and proposals. The entire process is faster and environmentally friendly.

As most government solicitations are public records, having all the documentation stored electronically ensures the transparency requirements are met, and no documentation is lost or distorted during the submission, translation or review process. Government agencies can also fulfill any statutory requirements they might have, for example, to engage minority- and women-owned business enterprises for bidding on their projects.

Vendors, on the other hand, can create their profiles on PlanetBids’ VendorLine platform. They can sign up for free to participate in any government bid, upload their certifications, and add their NAICS, NIGP codes, and other data, signaling the government agencies that they are qualified to make the bid.

By having all their information stored electronically on the platform, these construction companies or contractors increase their chances of winning bids, no matter their company’s size, through improved visibility and efficiency. Contractors can also collaborate and team up with other subcontractors, whenever they need, to participate in the bids.

Having hundreds of thousands of qualified vendors built into the system results in more responses to RFPs, expanding the bidding universe for agencies. PlanetBids enables these agencies to receive dozens of bids from qualified vendors on each RFP compared to just a handful of responses they usually receive via traditional channels, such as government websites or local papers.

Meanwhile, vendors subscribing to the VendorLine portal get access to thousands of government bids with an average bid size of $100,000 for a modest annual membership fee and can respond to those bids, ensuring the government agencies can see their complete offer. PlanetBids helps align expectations on both sides with all information and requirements about each bid stored in the system.

Notably, PlanetBids has never had a valid bid protest since its inception 23 years ago, and over $50 billion worth of contracts have been sourced through the platform so far.

At PlanetBids, the team sets a very high bar for client service and supports both procurement agencies and vendors. With a quick response time and first contact resolution rate of over 80 percent, it keeps a close eye on its NPS and other customer service metrics, aiming to drive the highest level of efficiency for the industry.

PlanetBids Celebrates World Earth Day

The sustainably-focused eProcurement solutions provider helps agencies lower their environmental impact
STUDIO CITY -PlanetBids is proud to celebrate World Earth Day on April 22, 2024. The California-based e-Procurement software provider is focused on removing the tedious day-to-day manual tasks associated with paper solicitations and the manual bid submission processes that still plague procurement teams of all sizes.
This application also allows agencies to measure and track sustainable procurement goals set by the user while being proactive in prequalifying sustainable, local and MWBE vendors. By simply moving these operations online, we are reducing paper waste and carbon emissions, and allowing users to make conscious decisions of who they buy from, all while saving agencies hours of time and millions of dollars.
The PB System™ from PlanetBids has SaaS-based modules for frictionless Bid Management, Vendor Management, Document Management, and more, saving more than 2200 trees each year – that's approximately 22.4 million sheets of paper!
"We work for a company that is very green, and the purpose of our system is to promote sustainability and standardize across the nation with some of the biggest users in paper and transportation. We're able to make a huge impact through this little piece of technology," said PlanetBids CEO David DiGiacomo.
PlanetBids also estimates that its agencies save an estimated 61,000 commute hours each year by moving bid meetings and solicitation hearings online versus in person.
PlanetBids was named as an AEP Certified Platform (Achievement of Excellence in Procurement) by the National Procurement Institute, Inc., (NPI) in 2023, allowing PB System users to bypass the California application criteria related to e-procurement.
