The digital twin technology imbued in building information modeling (BIM) transforms how we understand and manage physical assets, creating a seamless connection between the virtual and real worlds.

Dawood, an international engineering, financial, and geospatial technology solutions firm headquartered in the US, helps construction stakeholders unlock BIM’s full potential. The company bridges the gap in the BIM industry by combining precise 2D and 3D documentation, laser scanning, and in-depth knowledge of underground installations, structures, and inventory. It combines geodesign planning principles with dimensional scanning, geographic information systems (GIS), and BIM expertise to effectively tackle challenges and deliver innovative client solutions.

“By scanning and creating a detailed 3D BIM model of an existing facility, we improve project team collaboration, increase efficiency, and reduce costs throughout the building lifecycle. Dawood provides clients with a powerful and integrated technological approach to design, construction, and operations— from 3D scanning to GIS, BIM, and beyond,” says Ricardo Duarte, director of marketing with Dawood.

In addition to BIM for the architectural, engineering, and construction (AEC) community, Dawood delivers award-winning GIS and design projects throughout diverse markets.

Its client base encompasses the utility, energy, transportation, government, heritage, industrial, economic and land development, environmental, movie and entertainment, real estate, and retail space. Dawood wields the power of BIM and turnkey geospatial technologies with the help of ArchiTube, its wholly-owned digital transformation company with offices in Poland and the United Arab Emirates. The dynamic duo illustrates a complete architectural, construction, engineering, maintenance, and operations view— combined with precise scanning, structural, inventory, and underground installation details ensuring accurate documentation of built structures.

“Our expertise in real-time intelligence supports shovel-ready infrastructure projects with informed decision-making and effective asset and facility management,” says Adam Grewenda, vice president of ArchiTube.

The team provides tailored solutions to meet client needs, including software applications and professional consultation. Through realtime information collection during construction and technology workflow advancements, Dawood provides decision-makers with actionable data and valuable insight.

Dawood uses best-in-class hardware and software to perform surveys and subsurface utility engineering (SUE). When incorporating project and underground utility services into 3D BIM models, the team’s mix of engineering and technology know-how delivers a unique solution.

The company’s skills were showcased in a recent 3D model of an existing facility, as part of a US energy expansion project featuring buildings with equipment, piping, pipe supports, and cable trays. ArchiTube and Dawood performed several thousand scans, a bathymetric survey of a large lake serving as the primary water source for operations and fire suppression, and aerial Lidar of the entire compound. The model included SUE of fire and foam suppression and drainage infrastructure. This assignment is a testament to the versatility and value a well-made BIM model can bring to an organization, and how modeling initiatives support critical energy supply chain infrastructure and network logistics.

Building upon its award-winning track record, Dawood has established itself as a reputable and reliable partner within the BIM industry. Its family of companies is committed to delivering turnkey and connected technologies empowering clients to make a positive community impact and drive sustainable business expansion.
